what's going on Guys Tyler your wandering therapist here I was actually just out fly fishing here and I was walking through an Open Meadow and just saw these this grass in the wind and it felt almost like being on the ocean but standing on the ground watching this grass just kind of wave you can kind of see it in the background so it's kind of like waves in the ocean so beautiful it's almost like its own form of therapy just to stand in it and watch it and even feel it up against me and it got me thinking a little bit about something that I think is a good tip for managing stress in life managing change in life managing pressure in life and it has to do with the grass here that the grass is used to the wind and one way that it's learned to cope with the wind is that it stays close to the other pieces of grass so that it actually bumps up against the next piece the next piece bumps against the next piece and eventually they all kind of maintain their structure none of them were damaged and they can still hold on to their seeds and they can still grow and I thought that was one principle of life that is important that we have people in our lives that we can lean against and bump against every time we find that we're running against challenges or struggles or the Winds of Life another thing that I thought about with the grass here is that the grass has learned how to flex as you can see it in the background there it's so beautiful it's learned how to flex With the Wind with the breeze even when little snowfalls fall on it early in the season it learns how to bend but it doesn't break I heard a term in graduate school one time called cathetic flexibility and the class was a Sociology class talking about people who seem to do the best in terms of not getting sick as much not having heart attacks as much and the term that they taught was cathetic flexibility that we have the ability to adjust and to adapt to the changes that are going on in our lives and we Embrace that as part of living and when we do that we become like the grass where we just flow with it and it just becomes part of our life part of our day-to-day we almost develop the ability to just accept life on its terms and we Bend with it and we flow with it and then when we get a chance we continue to look Upward at the Sun and continue to grow and fill the measure of our creation and so today the challenge for any of you who are in the struggles is to think about that term cathetic flexibility and ask yourself if you're willing to do some bending for the sake of your own growth instead of fighting against the realities of your life that may be painful or maybe putting some pressure on you maybe just being willing to flex just a little bit and rely on other people to help keep you standing up and staying afloat could be a couple of things that could really give you a boost in those struggles that you're having thanks guys have a good one thank you so much for being here with me if you found this to be valuable for you please hit the like And subscribe button if you're facing particular struggles that you need help with or roadblocks that you're running into please submit a question I'd be happy to answer it for you [Music]
