"Jon The Builder"

My Story As A Professional

I am passionate about meaningful work.  I have spent much of my adult life as a designer, a planner, a maker, a builder.  Much of that time was working in the cabinet and carpentry trade where I learned that if something is not built right, it can be corrected.  It can be rebuilt.  Mistakes are opportunities for growth and improvement.

In life, it is the same.  Often we don’t get things right the first time around, or the second.  Finding and maintaining a belief in one’s personal potential and a mindset of growth allows us to capitalize on the missteps of the past, overcome our shortcomings, and rise above mediocracy pursuing our best self.

A couple of decades ago I could see a potential in myself to help others. I obtained a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Family and Human Development with an emphasis in marriage and family counseling. Raising my family became more important than continuing my education, and the master’s degree required to be a licensed therapist was put on the back burner.  Recently, my passion for meaningful work spurred me into returning to school and I am currently working on completing that degree.  Currently, I am working as a student counselor for Love Strong under the supervision of Tyler Patrick as I complete the requirements to become a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

I believe in human potential.  I feel it is never too late to learn.  I still think of myself as a builder and have worked at building myself into the kind of man I want to be.  For those who are interested in building their own best self, I would like to join you in your journey.  I hope to be helpful as you discover your potential and build your life into a life worth living.
