A different Approach to Therapy
Healing Through Horse Work
Horses are incredible creatures. They offer a type of presence that can be classified as powerful and majestic. While most people know them for their ability to work as a beast of burden, many don't realize their ability to heal. In this way, the meaning behind "beast of burden" shifts from physical burdens to emotional burdens. Equine-assisted therapy creates an opportunity to experience healing and not just talk about it.
Working with horses forces us to get into our bodies and experience what is actually going on. We learn to let go of judgement, be in the present moment, and act mindfully. Amongst other principles and skills, horses help teach, in real-time, emotion regulation, boundaries, clear communication skills.

Living Testimonial
"I was able to practice a way of being"
"I wasn’t sure what to expect during an Equine therapy session. I’ve always been a little hesitant around horses because
of some experiences I had growing up. I was impressed by the way Rhiannon guided both my husband and I through
our one on one session. I felt at ease around the horses and soon learned that, different from a talk therapy session,
equine therapy could offer a place for me to practice the principles I’ve been learning about in my recovery. I was able
to practice a way of being, inviting a deep sense of mindfulness about the way I show up and where I function from
within my heart. During my session I was able to step into a space of groundedness that I continue to strive for in my
life. What was amazing to me, is that the horses could give me instant feedback to whether I was showing up grounded
or not. The horses were able to act as a mirror for my heart. Although challenging, I was able to practice getting out of
my head and focus more on showing up in my heart. Equine therapy has taught me that more important than what I say
in my relationships, is the way of being I bring into my relationships. It also taught me about boundaries, and the value
they not only hold for me but the safety they can offer in a relationship. If you are debating whether to try an Equine
Therapy session or not, I highly recommend it! I don’t know of a better space to challenge yourself to step into your
heart, and give you a direct reflection of how you are showing up in your life and the impact that could be having on
your relationships."
