Founding Love Strong
Our Background
Basic: Love Strong was founded by Tyler Patrick LMFT (Clinical Director) and Chase Andrew Jones (Creative Director) in 2020 headquartered in Logan, Utah.
It Started With Tyler
Tyler became a therapist based on a personal experience with mental health (view his Vulnerable Story here). In high school, he felt a connection to the world of therapy after receiving support from a counselor during a major depression. He was given a chance at a new life. He felt like this could be a possible route for him to help people just like him, so he set a course.
Tyler served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the city of Baltimore, Maryland. While there, he saw many broken homes and felt an even deeper calling to help families in a more targeted way. He went to school at Brigham Young University Idaho (BYU-I) to receive his bachelors. He then attended Utah State University earning a Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy.
Tyler thought at that time that he was going to become a professor. He and his little family moved back up to Southeastern Idaho to pursue a position at BYU-I. God had other plans. He worked for as a therapist for adolescent boys going through drug court. It opened his eyes to some of the very real trauma and shame that families were facing.
All the meanwhile, Tyler was facing his own demons in the form of a severe pornography addiction. His world blew apart when his wife found out about his secret addiction. He started on a path in recovery for his personal life that coincided with what he was learning about to help others. He eventually moved to Logan, Utah and began his own private practice (Cedar Point Counseling). Little by little the practice grew and evolved, but he needed some help to make his dreams come true.
Then There Was Chase
Tyler and Chase are brothers by marriage (yeah, it's a family thing). Tyler married Chase's oldest sister, Rhiannon back in the early 2000's. Tyler and Chase hadn't dreamed of working with each other at that time, but built a solid brotherly relationship as the years passed. Growing up, Chase looked up to Tyler – mostly because Tyler was good at basketball, Chase's favorite sport. They would play and connect during family vacations and holidays.
They connected more deeply in 2015 when Chase (Chase's Vulnerable Story) moved in with Rhiannon and Tyler while navigating a painful divorce. Tyler offered group therapy to Chase. Chase said, "no way in hell am I doing that". So then he joined that group 😂. After a year of experiencing connection, Chase felt alive again.
Chase remarried and moved to Idaho to support his wife through the remainder of her bachelor's program at BYU-I. While there, he got a phone call. Tyler was in DESPERATE need of help. He was to present at a conference and his powerpoint slides were terrible, like the worst ever 🤢. Chase is a magnificent designer and was now equipped with a personal understanding of the principles Tyler was to present.
They set off on their first project and nailed it.
Tyler had more projects. They worked on those together too.
Eventually, Tyler and Chase realized there was some magic (or a divine hand) helping them with the work they were engaged in. They decided to burn the ships and work together full-time. It was a flying leap into the dark and life has been all the more incredible because of it.
